Catholics Protest Berlin Archdiocese Banning Unvaccinated From Attending Mass

On the first two Sundays of Advent 40 and 60 faithful gathered in front of Berlin’s Cathedral St Hedwig to protest the new “2G” rule of Berlin Archdiocese (as of November 27). Only vaccinated or those recovered from Covid may attend Holy Mass. Their claim was “No 2G: Church for All”. The privately initiated group gathered at dusk with candles and lanterns, sang the German Advent hymn “Macht hoch die Tür” and prayed the rosary. On the first Sunday of Advent, some faithful were already denied Mass attendance. Co-initiator Moritz Scholtysik explains in a press release: “This decision is disastrous. Especially in a time when we experience fear, loneliness and isolation, the common celebration of Holy Mass is more important than ever.” “ Another co-initiator, Ludwig Brühl, says, “A great many faithful are excluded from celebrating Holy Mass. This creates even more division in the Christian community.” Giovanni Maria Olivari, also co-initiator, asks Berlin Archbishop Heiner Koch “to make the celebration of the sacraments accessible to everyone again.” Source
