The former District Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St Pius X in Germany, Swiss-born Father Firmin Udressy, has left the Priestly Fraternity to join the neo-conservative Novus Ordo community of St Martin in France.
The Superior of the Swiss District, Father Thibaud Favre, announced in a statement on 18 September "with deep sadness and great regret" that Father Udressy had moved to "a conciliar community". The statement expressed gratitude for his priestly ministry.
Father Udressy was appointed German superior in 2013 at the age of 36, and returned to Switzerland in 2019. He was due to become District Superior in Canada this autumn.
Germany is the third largest FSSPX district in the world after the USA and France.
Udressy grew up near Ecône, where the FSSPX developed in the early days and where it now has a seminary. His brother is an FSSPX priest and three of his sisters are nuns. Source
